Rick is a highly talented and deeply qualified instructor in Qi-Gong, often known as the wellspring of all the martial arts. He started studying Tae Kwan Do and Judo in 1968; began the study of Wing Chun in 1974; began studies in Chen Tai Chi in 1988, as well as Yi-Gong; currently studies Xing-Yi.

Qi-Gong is used for the improvement of personal health and vitality. Qi is the chinese character for air, breath, life force or life essence. Gong (Kung) is the character for effort, work or labor. Therefore, Qi-Gong roughly translates as "the work of harvesting one's own life energy" (with thanks to the website of Capital Qi-Gong).

Rick has been an instructor for Capital Qi-Gong since 1993, and it is through them that he provides his classes in Qi-Gong in our office on Monday at 8pm. He has held classes in many venues over the years and also teaches Wing Chun, Yi-Gong and Xing-Yi. Rick is a native of the Washington, DC area. Rick holds certification in Wushu Duan Wei and WuShu Kung Fu. He can be reached for more information at 240-417-6030 or rsmith@ptofitness.org.
